With a brilliant spell of 4 for 32, Salman Ali Agha pounds South Africa throughout their innings at Boland Park.
SA Innings:
Winning the toss, South Africa started fast with Tony de Zorzi (33 from 25) and Ryan Rickelton (36 from 38) put up a blazing 70-run partnership.
It was all about Salman Ali Agha when, after taking two openers, he dismissed both Rassie van der Dussen (1) and Tristan Stubbs (1) in quick succession. SA crumbled from 70 for no-wicket down to 88 for 4.
Middle Order Battle:
Heinrich Klaasen’s valiant 86 runs off 97 balls (that included seven fours and two sixes) was somewhat a last-minute lifesaver for his team as he shared a calming 73 runs with Aiden Markram (35 off 54).
Markram departed, succumbing to the new boy on the block, Saim Ayub, who picked up his first ODI wicket, while Shaheen Afridi ended Klaasen’s gutsy innings in the 45th over.
Late Drama:
With Rabada scoring a brief 11 and Baartman finishing off with 10 not out, they made a total of 239 for 9. Rabada was run out on the last ball of the innings. South Africa had struggles written all over their innings.
Bowling Brilliance:
Salman Ali Agha: 4 for 32
Abrar Ahmed: 2
Shaheen Afridi and Saim Ayub: 1 each
What’s In Store? Pakistan is chasing a consummate 240 runs on a track that has offered some assistance to the bowlers early in the game as they aim for a 1-0 lead in the series.
