Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, has announced that a big meeting with real estate developers will be held soon to talk about plans to rebuild Gaza.
Trump’s Plan for Gaza
Trump wants to turn Gaza into a modern coastal city, like a “Riviera.” His idea is to bring in big developers to rebuild the area, but many countries are against the plan because they fear it could force Palestinians to leave their homes.
Will People Be Forced to Leave?
Witkoff says this is not an eviction plan, but he also said that it may not be possible for people to stay while Gaza is being rebuilt. He believes it could take 10 to 15 years to fix everything. He described Gaza as a “broken city” after more than a year of war and said it needs a proper long-term rebuilding plan.
What’s Happening Right Now?
His statement comes as Israel tries to extend the ceasefire with Hamas, hoping to free more hostages. At the same time, Israel is preparing for more fighting if the ceasefire ends.
Many Middle Eastern countries are worried about Trump’s plan. Some believe it goes against international law, while others have shown interest in helping Gaza in a humanitarian way.
What’s Next?
Witkoff didn’t say when or where the meeting will happen, or who will be there. He confirmed that he is going back to the Middle East this week for more talks.
